PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has signed into law the P5.268-trillion national budget for 2023, which he said “defines and gives muscle to the roadmap of what we intend to do next year.”
Marcos signed the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) in a ceremony in Malacañang, which was witnessed by select members of the House of Representatives and Senate.
In his remarks, the President said the signing of the budget “is a fine Christmas gift as can be received by any president from his legislation.”
“I cannot overstate the significance of the fact that, as Speaker Martin continually reminds me, that this is the fastest passage of the national budget that we have seen so far,” Marcos said, referring to Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“It is important because the budget essentially defines and gives muscle to the roadmap of what we intend to do next year,” he added.
